These are all illustrations based on my passion for being outdoors, celebrating nature whilst doing the things I love. Such as skating and surfing! I’ve hand drawn elements in each piece and then edited them on Photoshop.
We were given the opportunity to run a stage this year at Lost Cove Surf Festival. It was a huge team effort, turning a barn into an inviting space. I was responsible for designing the set which would surround the DJ booth and decorate the space.
Before arriving Matthew cut out all the shapes and in the days leading to the festival we spent hours on our knees, painting each piece with different coloured triangles. Kez and Kate, two amazing friends helped me paint endlessly and between the whole team we managed to create something beautiful.
The concept for the stage was originally based around the idea of a tree house. This evolved when creating the art, into a somewhat mountainous vision, with the choice of colours being the key element. The triangles became a common thread, not only filling each of the wooden pieces but also covering the ceiling. The luminous string was used to thread between a white slack-line we had put up to bring the ceiling lower. Each triangle filled with a different colour string.
We called the stage The Commune. We hoped to create a space where people felt relaxed, welcome and part of something.

A collection of work created using colouring pencils. I wanted to make something that might encourage the use of imagination. So often, through out school and life, as a child and also as adults, we are not encouraged to daydream. But through daydreaming I find myself creating things that are not real but that excite me and inspire story telling and experimentation. Drawing like this has become almost a meditation, or perhaps more accurately an escape. I find myself lost in the lines and colours, dreaming up new creations and before I know it, several hours have passed and I feel calm-at peace.

I spent the day painting a 'Wall of Awesomeness' in The Sustainable Studio ! The Studio is based in an old industrial warehouse in Cardiff and has been beautifully designed and created by Sarah and Julia, two sisters who I've know for years, and who've always inspired me. With the help of many loved ones, friends and family the studio is epic. Literally my dream space to work in! (Worth checking out, especially if you're a creative person in Cardiff looking for a place to work from.)
I was asked to paint this wall and to add all the names of people who have helped in various ways with the Studio. I had free reign basically to paint whatever I wanted. And this was the result!
Big thanks to Sophie Jones, one of my best friends who helped me get this done...I may have underestimated how much time it would take. She filled in loads of lines and was generally incredibly helpful! She's also an amazing Illustrator if you want to check her work out here.
Illustrations expressing an amazing few days exploring our beautiful home, with the help of Silverstick and some of their amazing gear!
